Funding

Giroscope has created a model for ‘Housing – Employment – Regeneration’ which is fundamentally financially sustainable. We receive minimal statutory funding for our work, generating our running costs from our rental income.

We borrow money from our bankers, Handelsbanken, to fund new property purchases. In order to expand our work and bring forward new projects we do fund-raise to bring additional income into our project. Over the years we have received grants from a small number of Charitable Trusts and other Funders who have supported our work.

We are currently aiming our fundraising activity towards the organisation expanding its volunteer training programme for the long term unemployed and other disadvantaged people. By creating more permanent posts we can train and supervise more people, bring more empty properties back into use and provide more homes for those in housing need.

Giroscope prides itself on spending money prudently and making sure that any funding is used directly where it has been targeted. We are a Registered Charity governed by a Board of Trustees.
