Two young chefs after smiling after finishing cookery course

Real pathways into hospitality

10 weeks building skills, confidence and new opportunities in the kitchen

Today Jamie, Joe, Mike and Shane completed their 10-week Cooking Course, and to celebrate, they chose what was on the menu… burgers.

Amid bites of juicy burgers, they reflected on the last 10 weeks and everything they’ve picked up along the way.

I’ve made good mates from the course and I’ve gotten more comfortable going out the house. I never thought I’d do anything cooking related, but now I want to keep cooking.

Over the past ten weeks the group have built confidence in the kitchen, learned new techniques and tried foods they might never have cooked before.

I’d highly recommend the course. I’ve loved learning new techniques and all the food I get to take home. I’ve even bought myself a drum sieve so I can make mash potato the way Oscar does!

The course is all about creating real opportunities, helping people develop practical skills, build confidence and take their next steps towards work in hospitality and catering.

I’ve really enjoyed it. I’ve tried a lot of food I thought I’d never like. It’s been an eye opener for my taste buds.

All four are keen to keep progressing in the culinary world, with some taking on work experience in professional kitchens while others are exploring new opportunities with Giroscope.

Spaces are open for our next course beginning mid-May.
