Giroscope is offering an opportunity to become a Trainee Housing Officer.
This is a hands-on role based in the neighbourhood, working with real people and real situations. It’s a way into housing and community work, and a chance to be part of an organisation that has been improving homes and lives in West Hull for over 40 years.
The role
Housing underpins everything else.
In this role, you’ll be working directly with tenants, helping people settle into their homes, responding to issues, and supporting them to sustain their tenancies. You’ll be part of the housing team, learning how services are delivered and how neighbourhoods are supported day to day.
The work can be challenging at times, but rewarding and vital for our communities.
What you’ll learn
This is a trainee role in the true sense. You will learn by doing the job, supported by experienced colleagues.
Over 18-24 months you’ll gain experience across tenancy management, lettings and tenant support, while developing knowledge in areas such as housing systems, safeguarding and community engagement.
There is a clear pathway into a Housing Officer role for the right candidate.
Working at Giroscope
Giroscope is a community-rooted organisation with a practical, open approach.
We work closely with tenants, volunteers and partners, and place a strong emphasis on relationships, trust and doing what works. There is a supportive environment where people are encouraged to contribute ideas, develop skills and take responsibility.
You’ll be supported, but also expected to play an active role in the team.
Who this is for
You don’t need extensive experience or a perfect CV.
We’re looking for someone interested in people and communities, who communicates well, and is willing to learn. You’ll need to be organised, reliable and able to handle a range of situations with empathy and professionalism.
