In Our Hand-Made Neighbourhood we are extending an open invitation to Giroscope residents, commercial tenants, volunteers, staff, and other local residents to engage in hands-on play with materials, shapes, and spaces, intertwined with discussions about the future of housing, public space, and employment in the area. The sessions include workshops, conversations and field trips. In parallel we are having a conversation about these same topics with policymakers and professionals in the field.
Funded through the Yorkshire Policy Innovation Partnership’s Communities Innovating Yorkshire (CIY) Fund, Our Hand-Made Neighbourhood aims to generate grassroots social innovation through connecting the voices of local residents to the spaces where decisions are made regarding housing, public space and employment. The final results of the project will be published here on our website in the Autumn of 2026
